Men på bryggerivirksomheden People Like Us er han art designer.

Hos People Like Us har 90 pct. af de i alt 60 medarbejdere en eller flere diagnoser – alt fra autisme, spastisk lammelse, ADHD, depression, angst til PTSD.

Sylvester has autism and are succesfull as a painter: Now he is forced to peel carrots !!!

Sylvester Holm Kappel stortrives hos People Like US.

It’s about looking into the individual human

Lars Carlsen stiftede People Like Us i 2016.

KNAP OP: Bryggeriet People Like Us lancerer fredag en alkoholfri øl til støtte for bevægelsen #enmillionstemmer.

Medstifteren af bevægelsen #enmillionstemmer havde aldrig hørt om People Like Us.

siger Monica Lylloff.

Øllen bliver lanceret i Sparta Hallen denne weekend på det, People Like Us kalder verdens formentlig første socialt bæredygtige internationale ølfestival.

Socially sustainable beerfestival in Copenhagen

On the 6. of march  Astrid Krag spoke at the perhaps  første Socially sustainable beerfestival in the world.

it takes people to create a ‘we’

lars carlsen video poster

“Lars makes a great effort to focus on the individuals he’s working with, instead of focusing on solid principles and himself; to find out what the individual can and will do, and what is good for the individual, instead of following some rigid norms and rules.
It affects me in the way that I get to work as a dancer instead of being a groundsman, as the municipality administration elseways would want me to be”

The words are Bjarke Østergaard’s. Bjarke is our brewery dancer. He’s also autistic, has ADHD, and has earlier on been given up on by the system.

You can put many fancy terms on business strategies. But often the best way to understand the way a company works is to ask the people who work there.

– That’s what film photographer Jeppe Kjær thought as well.

We’ve had the amazing honor of knowing Jeppe for some years, and he has followed us and the many development processes – both personal and businesswise. He’s the man behind Bjarkes Cha Cha cherry video, and the documentary “vejen hjem” about our war veteran project.

Last year Jeppe decided to follow us a day to share what it’s like to be part of it all. The result is this 5 min video.
Thank you so much Jeppe for capturing some very honest moments

Nominee – Danish Brewery of the year

People Like Us has been nominated in the Category the “best Danish microbrewery of the year” by Danske Ølentusiaster

Their reason for the nomination is:

” We’re nominating People Like Us, both for their good beer, but also because of their social consciousness. The work they do by hiring people with special needs in their brewery is priceless for the society. For a long period of time, they’ve done a lot of great thing to this group of citizens who don’t always fit in and do well in the Danish everyday life.

At the same time it’s refreshing to see a company putting people with special needs in the center of their focus. Not least at their new beer festival where they honor the breweries and people making a change when it comes to social sustainability, job creation and innovation. The festival is meant as a tribute to the ones who already make a difference, and as inspiration for more to follow. There are already 38 breweries from 12 different countries – who all work with social responsibility – announced for this festival, which takes place in 2020.”

The members of De Danske Ølentusiaster will vote for their favorite throughout November.

Nominee – Best Social Entrepreneurship

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR NOMINATION!

People Like Us Has been Nominated in the Category “Best Social Entrepreneur of the Year” 2019. By EY.

We’re very honored, humble, and excited to reveal that People Like Us are amongst the nominated companies in the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Danmark 2019 Awards, in the category Social Entrepreneurship. Thank you very much for the nomination!

We asked our Founder Lars Carlsen to share a few words on his response to the nomination, and his insights on our development throughout the last three years which made it possible.

“Three years ago, Mikkel Borg Bjergsø said yes to a project, which at that time seemed like a completely utopian idea. And PLU became a reality!

From the very beginning, PLU and Mikkeller agreed on some large economical-, beer production wise and -organisational dogmas – or what we in Danish call “benspænd”. This showed to be just the right strategy for PLU to become what it is today.  – Something that makes People Like Us unique and out of category.

Mikkeller made their entire organisation available to us, which we will never forget! Mikkeller HQ has without a doubt gotten much more work on their tables because of that. Huge respect to them!

Right now do we solve activation- and jobs for 57 staff members – whereof +90% has one or more diagnoses. Most are in jobs – or are ont their way to get into a job. Most of them are working in our own company, or are through our outsourcing department hired to solve tasks at MikkellerTrue Gum and more.

Besides that have we helped 8 persons into ordinary jobs at other companies through a period in People Like Us – and much more.
We’re very proud of our results and would love to inspire even more companies to take on more responsibility to create social impact – for the benefit of many.

That PLU are amongst the nominated companies the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2019 Awards, in the category Social Entrepreneurship shows that we’re on the right path.”

We’re proud and humble – thank you for the nomination

Rødovre Lokal Nyt (DK)  –  27. MAR 2019, 13:32:

Bryggeriet People Like Us er undtagelsen, der gør en forskel. Whats not to like?
